Henry Kissinger pays respects to ex-German German Chancellor Helmut Schmidt Current chancellor Angela Merkel and President Joachim Gauck were at the state funeral in St Michaelis Church, Hamburg, for Helmut Schmidt, who died aged 96 earlier this month.
